In interpreting product safety requirements, those unskilled in the craft or who have insufficient knowledge of why the requirement was developed may uncover perceived non-compliant areas that only our engineers can eliminate with their regular participation in all UL/ANSI technical panels for luminaires, emergency lighting, and components.

Our engineering approach to product safety investigation is to minimize the tests required in establishing test programs. This intimate knowledge of the various tests required allows us to make engineering judgments accepted by NRTL’s, especially in reducing the load of the overall test program. Doing so leads to a reduction of the samples and overall costs of the product safety program.

We offer our engineering technology as part of our “gold” retainer service to assist your team in conducting part or all of your product investigation needs. Our engineering services include compliance pre-review, compliance post-review, safety and code-related questions, resolution of AHJ (Inspector) situations, test plan development, and introducing new requirements to address emerging technologies.

Wilger Testing has been instrumental in helping NRTLs to create new requirements to gain listings quickly without incurring protracted fact-finding investigations. We have ushered through the system many new technologies where others have stumbled or been rejected by an NRTL.
